The First National conference on Modern Agricultural Science and Technology held in ZNU

The Dean of Faculty of Agriculture announced holding the First Conference of Modern Agricultural Science and Technology in the University of Zanjan and said: this conference was held with the efforts of academic members, researchers, and students at Qadir Forum of ZNU from September 10 to Sept. 12, 2011.

Dr. M. Movahedi Fazel in the interview with ZNU Public Relations Office reporter pointed out that: "Due to this year being designated as 'Economic Jihad', applied research articles were given priority."

He stated that "There were more than 2500 papers submitted to the conference secretariat about 1300 of which were accepted, more than 300 papers presented in the form of lecture and the rest as posters."

Dr. Movahedi Fazel stated that most of the submitted articles were of theoretical nature and there were no articles which could be considered as market-oriented, i.e. modern technologies transformed into products.

He said modern technologies and economic jihad in the fields of agriculture, organic farming, plant protection, animal science, soil science, horticulture, agricultural extension and education, economy and modern agriculture, food science and technology were the topics which were discussed in this conference, and Iran has had significant growth in the field of modern technologies in the past 5 years.  For example in the field of plant protection, in reducing the effect of pesticides on humans, with fragmentizing droplets of pesticides, that will lead to lower consumption and better effect on the plants, useful activities have been done in the country. Also useful researches have been conducted in the country about virus detection kits and sex determination in insects.

Administrative secretary of the conference in another part of his speech announced that there were three workshops held alongside this three-day conference. "Two nanotechnology workshops in both general and specialized levels, and also the workshop of landscape design in the field of gardening were held alongside the conference." He added.

The Dean of Agriculture Faculty said that one of the most important objectives of holding this conference was introducing agricultural capabilities in University of Zanjan.
